Simulation Of Galvanic Effects In Automotive Structures

John Baynham, Andres Peratta, Tim Froom

The objective of this work is to use simulation in order to:

• study effects caused by galvanic couples set up in environments where the film of electrolyte is thin, and

• explore how variation of coating condition and extent can influence behaviour, corrosion rate and the location at which corrosion occurs

Two different case scenarios will be presented in particular of practical interest to the automotive industry
